Visit to Bletchley Park

Members of the Maltby and District Amateur Radio Society (G4SKM) recently enjoyed a fantastic day out with a visit to the historic Bletchley Park, and it proved to be a memorable trip for everyone involved.
We had a great drive down — and back up — travelling in convoy, which added to the fun and sense of occasion. There were some great conversations on the radio along the way, thanks to Richard MØRET for keeping things lively and fun.

We were very pleased with the excellent turnout from the club, and the weather was kind to us for the most part, making it a really enjoyable day for walking around the site and exploring the many fascinating exhibits. Bletchley Park, with its rich wartime and communications history, is always a special place to visit, and many members took the opportunity to revisit favourite spots as well as discover new areas of interest.

A particular highlight of the day was visiting the National Radio Centre, where it was really nice to see Alex M7OUO (although didn’t have his licence at the time) and Peter G4ENC operating the station GB3RS. It was great to meet up, have a chat, and see the station in action, which added a very special amateur radio touch to the visit.

Overall, it was a really successful and enjoyable day out, combining good company, great radio, and an important piece of communications history. Many thanks to everyone who took part and helped make the trip such a success — it’s certainly a visit that will be fondly remembered by all who attended.
